Psalm 139:7-12 Zaburi 139:7-12 How many of you own a cell phone? Let’s say you called or texted me right now. Are you right there in your seat? Or are you here in my phone? Of course you are there in your seat and yet...in some way you are also right here in my phone. Your words. Your message. A little piece of you. You are in some strange way both there in your seat and right here next to me. And now your word, your message is even in me. In my head. A memory created in my brain. And not only that.. Your message did not just travel through space in a straight line from you to me and stay in this room. Nope, to get to me, somehow it had to connect with a satellite and my phone was also connected with that satellite or tower and the connecting made it to me. You are not only right there in your seat and right here with me. But some part of you also traveled through the roof, above the tree line, perhaps through a cloud or two and back again to reach me. And all by the power of this 3 inch by 5 inch rectangle you hold in your hand, carry with you everywhere--into your bedroom, in your car, to the doctor, into the restaurant, to your work, and let’s be honest even into the bathroom. You don’t even think about it. The tool that allows you to be right where you are AND almost anywhere else in the world...you hold in your hand. Perhaps you’ve heard the word ‘omnipresent’ used to describe God. Omni means “all”. Present means “present” :) God is all present. God is everywhere. Listen to this description from Psalm 139:7-12 I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! 8 If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. 9 If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, 10 even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. 11 I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night-- 12 but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you. Continue listening to Pastor Joanna's message here...
