 1st Sunday of Advent 5 Day Devotional: During Advent and Christmas we will be following a pattern: Day 1: A reading from Mary’s Song in Luke 1. Day 2: A quiet time to listen for God speaking and helping you to consider who you can bless this week. Day 3/4: A reading about the person from Jesus’ birth story: Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds, Jesus, and the Wise Men. Day 5: A reading from Mark 9. Day 1: Luke 1:46-50 Who does Mary say God is? What does God do? Day 2: Set a timer for 2 minutes and sit quietly with Jesus. Ask him to bring to mind one person who you can bless in some way today or this week. Then write down the name and brainstorm some ways you can bless that person. Choose a day and time to do it! Day 3: Luke 1:26-38 What can we learn from Mary and her words and actions? Day 4: Luke 1:39-45 Sometimes God sends us messages through other people? What was Elizabeth’s message to Mary? Is God speaking to you through someone else this week?
